Baby Cole's Bassinet Blanket
Here is the Bassinet Blanket I am making for Baby Cole. It is not completely done yet but here is how it goes:
Using worsted weight yarn, color white and needles #9US, C.O. 119 stitches and Knit 10 rows in garter Stitch (=5 ridges on RS and 4 on WS) Then, Knit across. Next row and every WS row: K7, *P15, K15*, repeat 2 times more and P15, K7. Every RS row: Knit across. Repeat those 2 rows for 23 rows (=11 ridges of Garter Stitch on RS and WS) That gives 7 squares (4 in Stockinette st. and 3 in Garter st.) Next 3 rows: Knit across on RS.
Next row and every WS row: K7, *K15, P15*, repeat 2 times more and K15, K7.
Every RS row: Knit across.
Repeat for 23 rows (=11 ridges of Garter Stitch on RS and WS) = 7 squares (4 in Garter st. and 3 in Stockinette st. this time)
Keep alternating that way until you get 9 designs of squares or until desired lengh. Then, end in Knitting 9 rows in Garter stitch = 5 ridges on RS and 4 ridges on WS.
Bind off loosely in Knitting.
That blanket can be made square shaped (30X30 inches) or rectangular (30X37 inches)
I like to use a pounder of yarn so there is no yarn interruption in the blanket.

Every RS row: Knit across. Repeat those 2 rows for 23 rows (=11 ridges of Garter Stitch on RS and WS) That gives 7 squares (4 in Stockinette st. and 3 in Garter st.) Next 3 rows: Knit across on RS.
DO I just knit across for three rows at this part of the pattern? for three rows as it states? wont that interrupt the pattern? i am new to knitting.

Isabelle,
I have the same question as Denise.
- Next 3 rows: Knit across on RS.
Could someone out there confirm for us that this is correct. Or should it be instead
- Row 3 (RS). Knit across.

Thank you for your interested in the Baby Cole's Blanket, Denise and Marjorie.
Sorry, I didn't have more time to answer sooner, but K3 next 3 rows is correct.
Merry Christmas! :-)

I was wondering how much yarn this blanket takes to make.... I'm using the bernat cashmere natural blends (worsted).
