= I had never made booties that way - I usually only seam the back of the foot - but I wanted to give it a try.
I had to modify the pattern because - and although the pattern says that the size of these booties is 6 months - my first attempt would not even fit a premature baby! I wonder how it is possible that casting on 15 stitches can be enough...
Using needles #6US and
Caron Simply Soft Brites yarn that was in my stash, I cast on 35 stitches and followed the pattern for the increase and decrease, making the top of the foot 7 stitches wide instead of 3. I also added more rows of decrease on the top of the foot ==> until 33 stitches remained… And that gave me a newborn size booties!
= Now, what do we have here?!! Small little pieces to sew together... Mmmh... Usually, I would run away screaming but this weekend, after all this sweater-knitting-in-the-round, I felt like making small projects and doing some finishing.
Using the same yarn than the booties and needles #6US still, I made 2 of those
Dinosaurs that I had first noticed in
Tokyo Knitter's blog.
I though they were really cute so, my kids had new "buddies" today! :)
= As listed on
my Stash Reduction Projects post, my next project is going to be
Kate.
But before that, I made myself a little holder for my cellular phone. I used Aunt Lydia Cotton and needles #6US. I made it up as I was going and it only took me 2 hours to make it.
NB: Notice the Project Spectrum colors for August!
All those little knits feel good and are just what I need for SOS!
