I finally found buttons that I like for the Baby Boy 5-Hour Sweater. The problem was that the pattern doesn't instruct for button holes so buttons have to sneack between stitches of that otherwise cute and quick to knit little baby sweater.
Here is a close up ===>
I used Red Heart Worsted Weight yarn and followed the instructions to the letter, except for the sleeves that I didn't knit together as instructed. Instead, I cut off the yarn after I bind off the wrist and sewed the sleeves together, because I wanted to be able to adjust their lengh if needed. I am glad I did that because I actually shortened the sleeves a little...
I decided that the sweater, since it is hoodless, needed to be completed with a little hat and this one seemed to be perfect. At first, I was a little worried, because after 40 rows of Stokinette stitch, my brimmed little hat was not rolling like it was supposed too... Ironic when you think of the efforts it takes to maintain Stockinette stitch flat when you actually don't want it to roll, no?
But after a little struggling I finally won the battle - and the "war" - and that little hat is just darling!
I used needles #8US instead of #7US as instructed because I tend to knit tight; but my gauge was right and it only took me an evening in front of the TV to complete that project!
I only made 2 tassels on the top instead of 3 though. I didn't want that little hat to be too overwhelming...
