Here it is, in all its beauty... my beloved Beaudelaire!

I just can't get enough looking at it, touching it, trying it on... I think I am in love... And, on the practical side... Well, it fits me like a dream!
I had a little trouble at the gusset point because I didn't use markers - they are not easy to use with double pointed neddles - and I didn't know if I was supposed to increase on the top or the bottom of the sock... Silly me! This is my 14th pair of sock and you would think that I should know better by now... For my defense, it was 02:00am and I was tired... but not ready to give up yet...
I also got a little confused with working the pattern chart while increasing for the gusset. I could never remember to make that even row in between each increase row - because of the sole of the sock that is also in plain Stockninette - and the almost all stockinette row in between the lacy rows...
TIP that worked for me: So, to make it easier to remember - and after TINK(ing) once or twice - I made my odd rows on the chart match with my non increase rows on the sole! I explain: Knowing that the top of the sock (the part with the lacy design) is the start of the row, I worked an odd row on the chart, slipped my (imaginary) marker, made my increases on the sole of the sock, slide my second (imaginary) marker and that was the end of my odd row. Then, I followed the chart for working an even row on the top of the sock and NO increase on the sole. Mmmh... Do I make sense here?
Maybe it is simpler to say that I have memorized:
ODD row of the chart = NO INCREASE | EVEN row of the chart = INCREASE
For information, for a size 8M foot, I followed the instructions for 8.0 inches foot circumference and I didn't need to follow the instructions for Larger Insteap, as I first thought I would have... The insteap of my socks are usually too tight...
I worked 6 chart repetitions for the foot + 3 more for the Gusset.
Pattern: Beaudelaire from Knitty
Yarn: Knit Picks Essential - Color "Burgundy" (bien sur!)
Needles: Double pointed needles #2us
BTW, working with Flexible needles is also very convenient for trying the sock on...
After working the Heel (short row technique) I am now about to start working on the leg. I wonder if I would be able to wait next Wednesday to work on that sock again though... I am supposed to be working on the Irish Hiking Scarf tonight...
