The pair of Mock Cabled Socks I was making for my Step-Dad is finished. As a reminder, I followed that pattern but without cabling. The Socks fit in nicely my DH who has the same foot size but I was surprised to establish that Sock #2, which was knitted with 2 circulars all the way, is slightly smaller than sock #1 that was knitted with double pointed needles down to the Toe Shaping point.
This is probably due to the fact that I get ladders when I knit with double pointed needles and almost none with 2 circulars. Besides, with the 2 circulars method there are only 2 junctions instead of 3 (or 4) with dbpns. It is pretty visible on the photo here below that my junctions on the cuff with 2 circulars are tighter. (Sock #2 is the one on the right on the photo).
Now, I don't think this is going to be a problem as the difference is not that big - Sock #2 might just be a little less stretchy. Besides, does not everybody have a stronger foot?
Yarn: Wool-Ease Sportweight from my stash - Natural Heather 098 (discontinued)
Needles: Double pointed and/or 2 - 16" circulars #3US
Foot size: Man 11 US (43 France)
NOTA BENE: I made my sock-blockers myself, using plastic-coated wire hangers - Tutorial here. They may not be as elegant and sophisticated as those lovely Wooden Sock Blockers that I dream to get someday - I especially like the acorn one - but they are great for drying socks in shape after washing, and they are inexpensive. I love great reuse ideas!
