Experimental Doudou

I was asked and honored to test the pattern for Creations W.E. Designs, and I have just finished that Doudou that my 4 year-old has already kidnapped adopted and named... well, Bunny!  Now, why did I ask him, huh?

Initially, the Doudou was for his baby sister - that explains the Pink Ribbon - and I am going to have to make her another Buddy before she wakes up tomorrow morning and realizes that I let her brother sleep with hers...

This is a great destashing project. I have used 1 skein of Lion Brand Jiffy, color Clearwater, from my Stash - left from a Baby Blanket I made in 2002...

Tea-Cozy Hat Completed

Because I have long hair, I never know what to do with it when I need to wear a hat. Most of the time, the only option is to tuck it in the hat and that makes me wear deap hats that tend to look like Smurf Hat when my hair is down. So, when I saw that pattern, I didn't think twice and decided to give it a shot.  This could very well be THE solution for me...

So here is my Tea-Cozy Hat!  I LOVE it because I can tighten the top of the hat completely closed and wear my hair down, or I can insert my ponytail throught the hat's top opening and not getting an Elephant Man like shaped head!

Pattern: Tea-Cozy Hat
Yarn: Steinbach Wolle - Sport, from my Stash (1 skein)
Needles: 1 -16" circular #8 US (5 mm) and double pointed same size
Size: I followed the instructions for the bigger size

  PERSONAL NOTES 

• The pattern instructs for a plain Stockinette but I have added to my hat some texture (a band of double seed stitch & some Garter rows here and there) before the decreasing section, to jazz it up a little. All what matters is to pick a multiple of 4 stitch design (for the larger size) and a x 2 for the smaller size.

 

• About the yarn, this is the thicker Sport Yarn I have ever knitted with!  In fact, Yarndex labels it as Plied Heavy Worsted Weight! That skein I used for making my Tea-Cozy hat, was in my Stash since 2004; it was left over from the Babies & Bears Sweater I made for my Son, using size #9 US... Definitely not a standard Sport Yarn!

 

• Making that Hat was an effective Destashing move, but also a (tiny) trim to my ridiculously long Wanna-Do List!

 

Conclusion: It is all good!

~ My Guidelines ~

Almost a Napoli

Except for the Finishing (edge bands), the Knitting part of the Napoli is finished.  This project reminds me (if needed) how much I like circular knitting.  I need to sew all those pieces together now and I hate don't really enjoy that. Maybe because I am just not very good at it... 

Diagonal Ripple Washcloth

Thanks to Shellee for pointing that pattern at me!

This is another gorgeous Washcloth or Dishcloth or Facecloth, whatever you want to call it... The stitching looks amazing but that project requires some attention.  Watching TV, I had to frog twice because of mistakes I made...

NOTE: I think solid color would show the Waving effect better.

Crêpes Recipe

I am making Crepes today, and here is my Recipe:

 

INGREDIENTS for 4 servings:

• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 2 eggs
• 1/2 cup milk
• 1/2 cup water or beer
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons butter, melted

DIRECTIONS:

1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and the eggs. Gradually add in the milk and water, stirring to combine. Add the salt and butter; beat until smooth.
2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
3. Cook the crepe until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side. Serve hot.
4. Fill with granulated Sugar (my fav), Jelly or Nutella for the sweet, and for those who prefer salty, filled with Shredded Cheese/Cubed Ham, or Bechamel Sauce/Mushrooms.  It is DE-LI-CIOUS!!!

NOTE:  For fluffier Crepes, replace Water with Beer.
